Dennis Joe Hurst

Graveside service for Mr. Dennis Joe Hurst, 51, of Nacogdoches will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, January 6, 2010, at Sunset Memorial Park with Rev. John Wahl officiating. Dennis was born February 7, 1958, in Nacogdoches, Texas, the son of the late Betty Ann Brookshire and Joe B. Hurst, and he passed away Sunday, January 3, 2010, at Nacogdoches Memorial Hospital. Dennis attended Nacogdoches High School. He owned and operated Dennis Hurst Race Cars in Appleby, Texas, and he loved to drag race, as well. His other love was his family, hunting and fishing with his sons, Wesley and Drew, as well as good friend, Rusty Baxter, and numerous other buddies. Dennis is survived by his wife of 25 years, Susan Butler Hurst; two sons, Wesley A. Hurst and Drew L. Hurst, all of Appleby; father, Joe Hurst of Appleby; brother, Larry Hurst of Appleby; sister, Carol Maples and husband, Bruce, of Lufkin; mother-in-law, Wanda Jean Butler and brother-in-law, Carl Wendell Butler, both of San Augustine. Pallbearers will be Tracy Logan, Rusty Baxter, Johny Covington, Kenneth Abbott, Norman Deal and Jimmy Pilgram.
