Vernon Dwayne Lewis Sr., 48, passed away suddenly on January 20, 2007. He was a computer science and information technology specialist for Housing & Community Development with the City of Houston for over 24 years. He coached a teen basketball team and enjoyed riding his Gold Wing motorcycle, playing basketball and indulging his passion for cars. Dwayne was a loving, supportive husband and a proud father. He is survived by his wife of 26 years, Toni Middleton-Lewis; daughter Wendy L. Lewis; twin sons, Vernon D. Lewis Jr. and Victor D. Lewis; mother, Floy Nell Carter Christopher; brothers, Jeff Taylor of Lufkin, Keith Taylor and Ron Christopher of Nacogdoches, Texas; mother-in-law, W.L. Middleton of Houston, Texas; and a host of relatives and friends. Dwayne will be missed greatly by all of those who knew him. The wake will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. today, January 26, 2007, at Mabrie Memorial Mortuary, 5000 Almeda, Houston, Texas. The funeral will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, January 27, 2007, at Wheeler Avenue Baptist Church, 3826 Wheeler Ave., Houston, Texas. Interment will follow at the Pine Grove Cemetery in Nacogdoches, Texas. Sid Roberts Funeral Home.
